Rooted in tradition. Ready for what came next.
Bloom and Root didn't begin with a packaging concept.
It began with generations of knowledge.
The brand traces its roots to Hong Kong and a family tradition of Chinese medicine, with wellness knowledge and formulations passed down through the founder's father-in-law's family. Herbal teas, wellness blends, foot soaks and soup packets grew from that foundation — taking traditional practices and making them easier to incorporate into modern everyday life.
When the founder began building Bloom and Root in Toronto, the heritage and products were already there.
The brand around them was still taking shape.
Early packaging was practical and relatively simple, using locally sourced boxes, bags and basic branding elements to get the products into customers' hands. It worked for an emerging business, but as Bloom and Root introduced more products, gift sets and seasonal collections, the packaging needed to do more.
It needed to communicate the quality and story behind the products.
It needed to feel cohesive across a growing collection.
And it needed to be practical enough to scale.
That's where Warwick Link came in.
The opportunity: turn individual packaging pieces into a brand system
Our initial conversation was about packaging.
But we quickly realized that Bloom and Root didn't simply need a better box.
The opportunity was to translate the heritage behind the products into a more cohesive, premium and scalable brand experience — while building a production system capable of supporting what came next.
We started by mapping the practical requirements: product dimensions, packaging formats, SKU counts, quantities, upcoming launches and timelines.
From there, the conversation expanded.
How should different products feel connected on the shelf? How could one packaging structure support multiple blends? What should remain consistent as the assortment grew? How could seasonal collections feel elevated without starting over every time?
And just as importantly: how could all of this be manufactured efficiently and moved from production in China to the brand's growing market in Canada?
Packaging became the starting point for a much broader conversation about growth.
Building a packaging system around the brand
Packaging development and sampling
Warwick Link coordinated physical samples across different materials, structures and finishes so decisions weren't being made from digital renderings alone.
Matte and metallic finishes could be compared in hand. Materials could be evaluated for both appearance and function. Print details could be reviewed before committing to production.
But one of the most important decisions was less visible.
We developed the packaging with SKU flexibility in mind.
Instead of creating an entirely separate packaging system every time Bloom and Root introduced another tea or wellness blend, the structure could accommodate a growing assortment while maintaining a consistent brand language.
That gave the brand room to grow without rebuilding its packaging every time it did.
Elevating the gifting experience
As Bloom and Root expanded into seasonal collections and gifting, Warwick Link worked directly with specialized manufacturers to develop custom rigid gift boxes around the products.
We coordinated structural development, prototypes, dimensions, materials, logo placement and finishing details — including checking how reflective treatments and other design elements would actually translate onto production materials.
The goal wasn't simply a more expensive-looking box.
It was to make the physical experience feel consistent with the heritage and care behind the product.
Seasonal collections could now feel distinctive while still being recognizably Bloom and Root.
That included a Mid-Autumn Festival collection bringing together the brand's Hong Kong roots and its new chapter in Canada.

Connecting specialized production partners
Creating the finished collection required different manufacturing capabilities.
Flexible printed packaging, rigid boxes and other branded components don't necessarily come from the same production line — or even the same factory.
Warwick Link coordinated those moving pieces across specialized manufacturing partners in China, managing specifications, quotations, samples, revisions and production requirements through one connected process.
For Bloom and Root, that meant fewer supplier relationships to manage and fewer handoffs between an idea and the finished product.
Thinking beyond the factory
Production was only one part of the equation.
Bloom and Root was growing in Canada while packaging was being produced through Warwick Link's manufacturing network in China.
That meant packaging decisions also needed to account for quantities, freight, consolidation, production timing and final delivery.
Rather than treating logistics as something to figure out once the boxes were finished, Warwick Link connected packaging development, manufacturing and international logistics as parts of the same supply chain.
The result was a clearer path from concept to production to Canada.
From simple packaging to a premium brand experience

Before
Bloom and Root had something far more valuable than polished packaging: a meaningful product story and generations of wellness knowledge behind it.
Its early branding and packaging were intentionally simple — locally sourced boxes, bags and individual components that allowed the founder to start selling and learning what customers responded to.
But as the assortment grew, those individual pieces weren't yet telling one consistent story.
After
Bloom and Root now had a more complete packaging system designed around the brand rather than around individual products.
Pouches, structural boxes and finishing details could work together across everyday products, multi-SKU collections and seasonal gifting.
The result was a physical brand experience better suited to retail, e-commerce, wellness markets, seasonal campaigns and gifting — without losing the heritage that made the products distinctive in the first place.
The impact
The transformation wasn't simply aesthetic.
It gave Bloom and Root a stronger platform for growth.
A more premium brand presence.
Packaging evolved from functional, locally sourced components into a coordinated system that better reflected the quality, heritage and positioning of the products inside.
A scalable foundation for new products.
Flexible packaging structures made it easier to introduce additional teas and wellness blends without rebuilding the packaging system for every SKU.
Greater consistency across the customer experience.
Individual products, gift boxes and seasonal collections could now feel like parts of one recognizable Bloom and Root brand.
Less complexity behind the scenes.
Rather than coordinating multiple specialized manufacturers independently, Bloom and Root had Warwick Link connecting sampling, specifications, revisions and production across the supply chain.
Better decisions before production.
Physical sampling and material comparisons allowed important decisions around finishes, structure and presentation to happen before committing to larger production runs.
More ways to bring the brand to market.
The resulting packaging supported not only individual product sales, but also e-commerce photography, retail presentation, community markets, seasonal collections and gifting.
A connected path from manufacturing to market.
By considering production and international logistics together, packaging could be developed with the realities of getting finished goods from China to Canada already in mind.

Packaging was the starting point
Bloom and Root came to Warwick Link with a packaging need.
What followed touched sourcing, manufacturing, logistics and the broader question of how a growing brand prepares for its next stage.
That's often how our work begins.
A client may come to us for a custom box, a product, a supplier or a shipment. We can solve that individual need — but we also look at what sits around it.
Because the best solution isn't always finding another vendor.
Sometimes it's connecting the ones you already need.
